When SANPA was set up in 2012 it published a short statement of what it was for. This is that statement, kept as a record of where the association started.
Vision
To grow and promote the sport of paintball and airsoft, its teams and its players in South Africa, at a world-class level and to a professional standard, and to help the paintball and airsoft communities reach their full potential.
Mission
- Promote South African paintball and airsoft nationally and internationally, giving exposure first to associated members.
- Assist players, clubs, fields and leagues on a national level.
- Promote paintball and airsoft as safe sports.
- Help new players get involved and keep existing players.
- Work with importers, distributors and dealers, locally and internationally.
- Build a national database of members, venues, clubs and organisers.
- Develop a national player classification system for each format.
- Affiliate and work, nationally and internationally, with like-minded associations, federations, clubs and businesses to grow the sport.
Values
SANPA identified five values as the character-building core of paintball and airsoft, taken from the world rules of the sport. They help anyone, whatever their size, age or background, understand what makes the game distinctive.
Integrity. Honesty and fair play are central to the game.
Passion. Players feel a real enthusiasm for the game, an emotional attachment, and a sense of belonging to a worldwide paintball and airsoft family.
Solidarity. The sport brings people together, leading to lasting friendships, teamwork and loyalty that cross cultural, geographic, political and religious differences.
Discipline. Discipline matters on and off the field: keeping to the rules, the regulations and the sport's core values.
Respect. Respect for teammates, opponents, match officials and everyone involved in the game comes first.
