Paintball
South Africa has sent national teams to the UPBF Paintball World Championship since 2013.

The national team
SANPA selects and sends South Africa’s paintball national teams. Recent years include a 14th place for the men in 2025 and a 9th place in 2026, and South Africa has won first place in Women 3-Player.
UPBF membership and records
The United Paintball Federation (UPBF) governs paintball worldwide and runs the Paintball World Championship. It has operated since 2013 and was formally established in 2018, when SANPA’s chairman was elected General Secretary.
SANPA is the UPBF’s Official Representative for South Africa. That gives it authority to register national teams, to represent South Africa in UPBF competition and to vote at the UPBF Congress. Membership is current through 2026.
Safety and standards
SANPA takes part in ASTM International committee F08 on sporting goods, including its paintball (F08.24) and airsoft (F08.27) subcommittees. Through SABS, SANPA is nominated to the committee on sport and recreational facilities and takes part in ISO/TC 228 working group 7, Adventure tourism. Our field regulations and COVID-19 protocols were built on that work.
