Over the weekend of 15 to 17 November 2013, the South African team Team Dynamix won Division 1 at the Naza World Cup Asia, held at Mashuri Hall in Langkawi, Malaysia.

The event

About 140 teams from more than 40 countries competed over four divisions. Division 1 is the highest division at the Naza World Cup Asia, and Team Dynamix played 13 other teams in it. The team came through the preliminary games and the quarter-finals to reach the semi-finals and the final, and won its last point against Team Raskal of Malaysia to become the 2013 Division 1 champions.

Team Dynamix went to Langkawi as part of the final leg of the PALS series, with supporting players from the Reaper and Xplicit teams. It also represented South Africa in the Intercontinental Cup.

The Intercontinental Cup

In the Intercontinental Cup (ICC), South Africa played top teams from around the world, including San Diego Dynasty, then ranked the best team in the world by the PSP, the largest paintball league in the world. South Africa lost to San Diego Dynasty, beat the South American All Stars, and placed second in its bracket. Only the top team in each bracket went through to the semi-finals and final.

Other South Africans at the event

Four players from the SARPL played in Division 3 with an Australian team, Insidious, which placed second in its bracket and 21st overall of 54 teams. Two South African players also played as guests for Team Xtioneers in Division 1.

What came next

Team Dynamix went on to win the 2013 Division 3 national 5-man title at the SARPL Super Cup in December, as told in Super Cup 2013.
