In September 2019 South Africa sent national paintball teams to the UPBF Paintball World Championships in Amsterdam, in every category on offer.
The event
The championships were held from 26 to 29 September 2019, alongside the NXL Europe Open. They were the largest to date: 56 national teams from 26 countries, in the Women's 5-player, Women's 3-player, U16, U19 and Veterans categories.
South Africa had national teams in all five of those categories, and in the Men's category earlier in the year. It was the first year South Africa entered Women's 5-player, U16 and Veterans teams. More than 40 people, players, spectators and staff, left South Africa on 22 September.
In July 2019 the national Men's team had played the UPBF Men's Paintball World Championship in Prague, finishing 9th of 17 countries, with Russia as champions.
